The old city of Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was comprised of several neighborhoods, which played a significant role in the establishment of the Saudi state. These neighborhoods were formerly called 'Hilal,' derived from the phrase 'Hal fulan al-makan,' meaning 'someone settled in the place.' A neighborhood is a part of the city that includes houses, mosques, and wells, and is called 'Hillah' or 'Hara.' Some of these neighborhoods include:
Hillah al-Qadimah

Hillah al-Muraighib
Hillah al-Quna’i
Hillat al-Muʼaykaliyah
Hillah al-Dhahirah

Hillah al-Wasita
