His Royal Highness Prince Mutaib Bin Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is the grandson of the Founding King Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud. He is one of the sons of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz. Born in Riyadh City, he served as Minister of State, a member of the Council of Ministers, Commander, and later Minister of the National Guard. He is married and has three sons and three daughters.

Biography

Prince Mutaib Bin Abdullah received his education in the cities of Riyadh and Jeddah. He attended King Saud University in Riyadh for one academic year before deciding to pursue a military career. He was sent to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom, where he graduated with the rank of lieutenant. Upon his return to the Kingdom, he was appointed to the National Guard military schools.

In 1983, King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud issued an order promoting Prince Mutaib Bin Abdullah to the rank of colonel. Additionally, when he was Crown Prince, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud issued an order appointing Prince Mutaib as the commander of King Khalid Military College.

Military service

Prince Mutaib rose through the military ranks until he attained the rank of brigadier general. He then joined the Command and Staff College in Riyadh, where he earned a master's degree in military sciences with honors. Subsequently, he was promoted to the rank of major general.

In 1990, Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz issued an order appointing Prince Mutaib as the Deputy Commander of the Military Office at the National Guard, in addition to his role as the Commander of King Khalid Military College. In 1995, a Royal Order was issued promoting Prince Mutaib to the rank of lieutenant general. On December 21, 2000, King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz issued an order promoting him to the rank of general and appointing him as Deputy Assistant Commander of the National Guard for Military Affairs.

Positions

On June 21, 2009, a Royal Order was issued by King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz appointing Prince Mutaib Bin Abdullah as Deputy Commander of the National Guard for Executive Affairs with the rank of minister. On November 17, 2010, a Royal Order was issued appointing Prince Mutaib as Minister of State, a member of the Council of Ministers, and Commander of the National Guard. On May 27, 2013, another Royal Order was issued transforming the National Guard Presidency into a ministry and renaming it the Ministry of the National Guard, with Prince Mutaib appointed as its minister.

Prince Mutaib continued to serve as the Minister of the National Guard until a Royal Order was issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, on November 4, 2017, relieving him of his position.
