Valleys and Springs in ad-Disah are natural areas located in the ad-Disah Village, approximately two hundred km from Tabuk City, northwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Three canyons converge here to form valleys known as Wadi ad-Disah, which is characterized by its numerous palm trees. Wadi ad-Disah combines mountainous terrains in the form of columns, which vary in height, with streams that originate from its mountains, flowing through the valley’s pathways. It has a mild climate throughout the year, with its towers and walls reaching up to 250 m high, most of which remain unexplored.

Nature and monuments in the valleys and springs of ad-Disah

The valleys and springs in ad-Disah are among the Kingdom’s tourist destinations. The name 'ad-Disah' means a valley filled with palm trees. Wadi ad-Disah is also known as 'Wadi al-Habaq', 'Wadi Themar al-Nabq', 'Wadi Damah,' and 'Wadi Qarar.' It intersects mountains under which palm and damah trees thrive. Various fruits, vegetables, citrus, bananas, mangoes, tomatoes, ocimum, and mint are cultivated here. The area includes Nabataean carved facades and tombs, remnants of walls with Nabataean and Arabic Kufic inscriptions, and ruins of residential settlements such as al-Mushayrif, al-Sokhna, and al-Maskunah.

Ad-Disah contains several valleys, such as Wadi Qaraqir, which hosts numerous springs; among them are al-Zarqa', al-Qitar, al-Tarif, and al-Namtiyah. These springs are surrounded by ad-Disah, Abu al-Ajjaj, and al-Badea' Villages, and overshadowed by forests of palm trees, papyrus, henna, oleander, and Bromus danthoniae. Wadi ad-Disa also includes Wadi Damah, named for its continuous water flow, which saw human presence dating back to 3000 BCE, and Wadi Ghamra, rich in spring tributaries, along with Wadi Turban.

Preservation and development of Wadi ad-Disah

Ad-Disah mountains are a touristic destination for hiking, mountain climbing, and camping. To preserve the valley's environment and wildlife and leverage its tourism potential, the Public Investment Fund launched Wadi ad-Disah Development Project on November 20, 2018, which is part of Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Nature Reserve. Along the valley’s route, there is a museum showcasing the region’s historical and archaeological artifacts. Additionally, Wadi ad-Disah Road was constructed with a length of thirty-five km to serve the area's tourism movement.
