The term Davos in the Desert refers to the "Future Investment Initiative," an annual investment event held in Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The first edition of the event was inaugurated by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz in 2017. The event features a conference with the participation of investors, leaders, and chief executive officers representing countries from around the world to present and discuss global investment opportunities and trends, promote economic development, and address its challenges.

The first edition of the forum witnessed the launch of the NEOM's city of the future project, one of the vision's mega projects, and an independent economic zone with a financial value exceeding USD500 billion.
