The Filmmakers' Program is one of the Film Commission's programs, within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Culture, to develop creative capabilities and talents in the film industry sector, in partnership with a number of educational and international institutions specialized in the field. The program aims to support talent, develop skills, and enhance passion among Saudi young men and women who are interested in the field.

The Filmmakers' Program is part of the Film Commission’s efforts to develop youth skills in light of the Saudi Vision 2030. It provides local film talents with knowledge resources and access to artistic fields, in accordance with modern international best practices.

Goals of the Filmmakers' Program

The Filmmakers' Program aims at developing advanced and intensive training programs, and organizing training workshops and dialogue sessions. It also seeks to discover national capabilities and talents, and strengthen their energies and skills in filmmaking, in addition to encouraging the audience, satisfying young people, and helping them achieve their ambitions in the field of filmmaking, according to international standards.

Tracks of the Filmmakers' Program

The Filmmakers Program offers several tracks, including one for beginners and amateurs with passion and skill. The program allows them to discover the sector's fields and hone their skills, and provides them with the necessary experience through institutions specialized in providing academic programs in filmmaking. As for the practitioners and professionals track, it is dedicated to those who have previous experience. This track provides them with specialized courses in various fields of film, whether in editing, script writing, or animating images, which improves their skills and increases their cumulative experience in the field.

Accredited certification for trainees in the Filmmakers' Program

The Filmmakers' Program is one of the programs fully supported by the Film Commission. Its participants were exempted from paying any fees. All tracks and sections are classified as virtual, and attendance is required only during training times. All trainees receive certificates accredited by the entities providing the training programs, and all certificates are issued by the Film Commission. Moreover, intellectual rights to films are the private property of the trainees who own them, and not the training entity or body, while specific standards and controls are set for shared rights.

Eligibility to participate in the Filmmakers' Program

All Saudi citizens and the children of Saudi women are eligible to participate in the program. Proficiency in the English language is a must when applying for programs designed in the English language.

Academies cooperating with the Filmmakers' Program

The Filmmakers' Program cooperates with a number of academies, institutes, and educational institutions, such as the British Film Institute (BFI), the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts (USC) in Los Angeles, and the Creative Media Skills (CMS) Institute located in Pinewood Studios, England.
