Al-Riyadh Newspaper is one of the newspapers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, published daily from the capital, Riyadh. The first issue was released on May 1, 1965, and it was published by al-Yamamah Press Establishment.
History of al-Riyadh Newspaper
The newspaper's early development occurred in three stages. It started in al-Marqab neighborhood in Riyadh with around ten editors at the time. Initially, it was a six-page publication printed using basic presses in a rented facility.
The second phase of al-Riyadh newspaper saw several changes compared to its initial period. It moved to a new building in al-Malaz neighborhood, focusing on improving the journalistic output. Color printing was introduced, and the newspaper increased its page count. The first color photograph published was of the Grand Mosque in issue 4672 on November 9, 1980. On the other hand, the women's section, considered one of the first in local journalism, was inaugurated. Meanwhile, the third phase witnessed the move to the new headquarters in as-Sahafah neighborhood, with modern journalism technologies now available.
