Saudi Towards Space Exhibitions

Saudi Towards Space Exhibitions are exhibitions organized by the Saudi Space Agency, coinciding with the launch of the scientific mission of Saudi astronauts on the International Space Station. They were held from May 21 to June 1, 2023, in the cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dhahran, and included scientific and entertainment activities.

Through its events, the Saudi Towards Space exhibitions provided visitors with an opportunity to explore the space sector through several sections. These included learning about space missions and their history, highlighting the Kingdom's research role and scientific impact in this field, with the aim of raising interest in space and its sciences, and its scientific and technical specialties among children.

The agency ensured that the various events at its exhibitions were suitable for all age groups, allowing visitors to experience a range of activities. These included learning about the future and history of space in the exhibition's visual museum and exploring space through virtual reality games.

Visitors to the exhibitions experienced astronaut training simulations and learned about their sleeping arrangements in a dedicated section. They also participated in scientific, educational, and informational workshops. A special section was set up where experts and scientists answered the audience's questions about space, its sciences, space missions, astronauts, and more.

The Saudi Space Agency aims, through organizing the Saudi Towards Space exhibitions, to enhance national interest in the space sector and contribute to increasing investment in young and emerging talents by inspiring them through such events in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The agency also aims to keep pace with all the details of the Kingdom's historic mission on the International Space Station and to connect visitors with it through live updates on all its details and developments. Additionally, it seeks to share the feelings of pride and honor in this national achievement with the visitors.

The Saudi Space Commission was established by Royal Decree in 2018 to align with Saudi Vision 2030. It represents an advanced step towards innovation, scientific development, and opening opportunities for investment in the Saudi space sector. In 2023, the Council of Ministers approved the regulatory arrangements to transform the Saudi Space Commission into the Saudi Space Agency.
