Children's Libraries are an initiative launched by King Abdulaziz Public Library in Riyadh City, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in 1995, aiming to enhance the literary culture of children and young adults aged four to eighteen, foster valuable principles, and contribute to their upbringing with a love for innovation and diverse knowledge. This is achieved through developmental initiatives, enrichment programs, and cultural recreational activities.

Children's Libraries fields

Children's Libraries at King Abdulaziz Public Library include several cultural sections dedicated to children, including the science and arts sections, literary and historical stories, as well as other sections contained in both paper and digital books. In addition, the library includes audio stories and entertainment sections, such as reading competitions, educational games, theatrical performances, and various awareness, artistic, and cultural programs.

Children's Librairies outputs

Children's Libraries at King Abdulaziz Public Library provide creative enrichment programs that develop children's culture and imagination, fostering principles of knowledge and love for innovation. These include the "My Dream" program, which focuses on polishing children's creative thinking, "A Day from the Future" program, which aims to enhance their social skills, "Creative Curiosity" program, which encourages innovation and invention, and "My Story" program, which develops their writing and imaginative skills. In addition, the libraries provide a range of recreational activities, motivational competitions, theatrical performances, and acting experiences that develop their skills and broaden their horizons through diverse stories and scenes. Moreover, the libraries launched the Children's Imagination Exhibition and published several developmental stories, such as the Hajj Rituals story.

Initiatives launched by the library have extended to reach children in various situations and conditions. The library launched a comprehensive cultural and recreational program for children with long-term hospital stays, as well as an initiative for translating children's stories into sign language through the library's digital platforms, in order to reach the targeted audiences.

Establishment of the Children's Book Club

King Abdulaziz Public Library adopted the establishment of the "Children's Book Club," which includes 1,500 titles in the field of children's literature obtained from (eighty) international publishing houses. The club provides children from all over the Kingdom with the opportunity to subscribe, aiming to educate them and instill the habit of reading by offering distinguished Arabic books to open the doors of culture and knowledge. The goal is to ensure that the library's books are accessible to every child in the Kingdom, under the motto "A Child's Culture Builds a Nation."
