The Saudi Arabian Athletics Federation (SAAF) is the sports federation governing athletics in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It represents the Kingdom in both local and international championships. Originally established in 1963 as the Saudi Arabian Athletics Association, its headquarter is situated in the capital city, Riyadh.  

SAAF tasks

SAAF aims to achieve sporting excellence for Saudi athletics as an organization and for individuals globally and build a thriving athletics community in the Kingdom. It undertakes several tasks, such as developing and promoting athletics, encouraging community participation, equipping specialized coaches to train school students and sports enthusiasts, and preparing athletes for international championships.

SAAF Participation in International Championships

SAAF has participated in several international championships, including the World Athletics Championships, the Asian Athletics Championships, the Asian Games, the IAAF Continental Cup, and the Gulf Athletics Championships. SAAF is a member of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the Arab Athletics Federation.    

SAAF's regulatory arrangements

SAAF is a sports entity with a legal personality. Its budget consists of support funds provided by the state, revenues from local and international championships, donations, grants and annual membership fees.
