The Saudi Logistics Academy is an academy that aims to enhance the logistics sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by training and qualifying national competencies, and by localizing jobs across various fields of transportation and logistics.
Established in 2021, the academy is part of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics, a key component of Saudi Vision 2030.
Sectors of the Saudi Logistics Academy
The academy works to develop and provide national competencies in five different sectors: logistics and supply chains, postal logistics services, land, rail, sea, and air transport, international trade, shipping and exports, and e-commerce and warehouse management.
Objectives of the Saudi Logistics Academy
The academy aims to transform the Kingdom into a global logistics hub, ensure the growth sustainability of the logistics sector, qualify male and female national cadres in the field of logistics and related specializations, create an appealing investment environment, and empower the transport and logistics system through localization.
Several government entities are partnering with the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services to achieve the goals of the academy, including the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, with the support and implementation of the Transport General Authority.
Specializations of the Saudi Logistics Academy
The academy offers its programs through eight specializations across two phases. In the first phase, there are four training tracks that cater to the needs of the transportation and logistics sectors and related supporting specializations, including: supply chain and logistics management, e-commerce and last-mile, warehouse management, and marketing, sales, and customer service.
The second phase includes four training tracks: transport and distribution, shipment and customs operations management, port and operations management, international trade, and import and export.
Saudi Logistics Academy and partnerships with universities
The academy focuses on applied practical training in partnership with numerous universities, educational institutions, and specialized international organizations. Its goal is to qualify national competencies capable of effectively working in the logistics sector and related fields.
It offers several training tracks: the short course and online training programs track, the international professional certificate programs track, and the specialized executive programs track.
In 2022, the academy launched its first executive program dedicated to leaders in the logistics sector in partnership with the ZLC Center and the MIT Institute. This program includes over ninety hours of intensive training led by top experts, aiming to identify best practices in designing and operating logistics. It also includes field visits to gain insights from international experiences and aims to build a professional network through the exchange of expertise.
Outputs of the Saudi Logistics Academy
The academy offered several training programs, including the junior diploma program in employment with the private sector. About 450 trainees graduated and were assigned to work in eight different logistical specializations offered by the academy. Additionally, a new branch of the academy opened in the city of Jeddah. The academy also provided a variety of short courses and professional certificates. Over 1,200 male and female citizens across various regions of the Kingdom underwent training through these courses and subsequently found employment in several companies.
