Qassim Municipality

Qassim Municipality is one of the seventeen municipalities distributed across the thirteen regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is responsible for the urban development of Qassim Province, in order to achieve sustainable tourism development, preserve the cultural and environmental heritage, and promote it locally and in the Arab world. One of its responsibilities is to provide innovative municipal services to citizens and residents. Additionally, the municipality is responsible for delivering innovative municipal services to enhance the well-being of its citizens and residents.

Qassim Municipality was established under the name of Buraidah Municipality in 1961. The first person to hold the position of municipality president was Abdullah bin Hamoud al-Barak. In 2005, it changed into Qassim Municipality. Since then, it has been led by approximately twelve presidents and mayors until 2022.

Qassim Municipality is organizationally affiliated with the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing. Its headquarters are located in the city of Buraidah, which is only 2.6 km away from the regional emirate's headquarters. It oversees twenty-seven municipalities, including Onaizah Municipality, al-Bada'i Municipality, Qasr bin Aqeel Municipality, al-Bukayriyah Municipality, Uqlat al-Suqur Municipality, al-Mithnab Municipality, in addition to five sub-municipalities: al Deira Municipality, al Safra Municipality, North Buraidah Municipality, East Buraidah Municipality, and West Buraidah Municipality.

Qassim Municipality provides a range of services on its official website, including services for individuals, businesses, and the government sector. Furthermore, the website offers general services, including the Qassim Province explorer, investment map, and competitions. It also provides other services, such as regulations, laws, and a list of residential neighborhoods.

Qassim Municipality undertakes various tasks within its jurisdiction, including road and street paving, implementation and maintenance of parks and gardens, management of swamps and water collection areas, execution and maintenance of flood drainage projects on roads and streets, as well as the execution of public slaughterhouse projects. These tasks contribute to the overall development, infrastructure maintenance, and environmental management in Qassim Province.

In June 2022, Qassim Municipality won the prestigious Excellence Award for Operational and Institutional Efficiency in Expenditure in its fourth edition, organized by the Government Expenditure and Projects Efficiency Authority (EXPRO). In addition, twelve municipalities within Qassim Municipality were awarded as top-performing government entities in achieving project procurement standards, according to the first EXPRO measurement for the year 2022 (March-April).
