Al-Yamamah University is a private Saudi university located in Riyadh City. It was established in 2001 with the support of the Ministry of Higher Education (currently known as the Ministry of Education). The first cohort of university students was enrolled in the academic year 2004, and the first cohort of female students was enrolled in the academic year 2006.
Conversion of al-Yamamah College into a university
Al-Yamamah College was converted into a university by establishing new scientific colleges for both male and female students, such as the College of Computer and Information Systems. The approval to convert the college into a university was granted by the Higher Education Council, following the consent of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, officially making it al-Yamamah University in the academic year 2008-2009.
