King Saud Bin Abdulaziz Airport or al-Bahah Airport, referred to by the abbreviation; ABT, is an internal airport, located in al-Aqiq Governorate in al-Bahah region, southwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was established in 1983, and it is the only air outlet in the al-Bahah region.
Air Traffic at King Saud Airport
King Saud Airport ranks second in air traffic density among domestic airports in the Kingdom, following Najran Airport. In 2022, it recorded a total of 3,856 incoming and outgoing flights, carrying 340,606 passengers.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation, the operator of most of the Kingdom's airports, is working on a project to develop and expand the airport and raise its capacity to one million passengers.
The Area of King Saud Airport
According to the project, the total area of the airport will reach 198,565 m2, which includes a new passengers' lounge with an area of 20,310 m2, along with a travelers' lounge, four-passenger bridges, in addition to parking for aircraft and cars, and buildings for electricity, air conditioning, and firefighting.
The Location of King Saud Airport
King Saud Bin Abdulaziz Airport can be reached from the city of al-Bahah, the capital of the administrative region, in about half an hour via King Fahd Road, which is forty-five km away from it. To the southeast of King Saud Airport, there is the Bisha Domestic Airport in the Aseer region the Aseer region at a distance of 141 km.
