The Cultural Palace in Riyadh is a cultural center specializing in everything related to culture and arts. It is located in the central area of the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh City, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on a land area of approximately twelve thousand m. It forms a link in the chain of connected buildings that create the structure of the area.
Architectural design of the Cultural Palace in Riyadh
The design concept of the Cultural Palace building was focused on distinguishing it from other buildings in the area due to its different functions. Its front facade was designed as a wavy glass wall, in clear contrast with the walls of the area's buildings. On either side of this wall flows a waterfall collected in a small pond, which the wall divides into two parts, inside and outside the building. The building's facade overlooks a spacious square covered by a high wooden canopy, which includes an outdoor theater reflecting the building's identity from the outside.
The main lobby of the Cultural Palace overlooks the front square of the palace through the glass wall, and from the lobby, ascending passages, spiral staircases, and elevators start, leading to various parts of the palace. The main celebration hall has an area of about seven hundred m and can be divided into two parts, with three smaller halls located next to it.
The Cultural Palace building comprises the main lobby, the main celebration hall, the conference hall, artistic and craft workshops, and the public library.
