
Ala Ma'idat al-Quran Ma'a al-Mufassirin wa al-Kuttab Book (At the Quran's Table with Commentators and Writers) is among the earliest Saudi publications. It was written by Ahmed Mohammed Saleh Jamal and printed by Dar al-Kitab al-Arabi Press in Cairo in 1954. The book consists of 198 pages and includes a collection of chapters written over different periods, starting in 1947. It serves as a commentary on various books and articles about the Holy Quran published by writers from both the East and the West. Among them are Abdulaziz Fahmy Pasha, Abbas Mahmoud al-Aqqad, Muhammad Abdulrazzaq Hamza, Ahmad Hassan al-Baqoori, Omar Farrukh, Abdulmutaal al-Saeedi, Dr. Gustave Le Bon, and Goldziher, as well as classical scholars such as al-Zamakhshari, at-Tabari, and ar-Razi.

Ahmed Mohammad Saleh Jamal authored Ala Ma'idat al-Quran Ma'a al-Mufassirin wa al-Kuttab and wrote several other works. His first published book, Madha fi al-Hejaz (What Is in Hejaz), was released in 1945. He later published additional books, including Din wa Dawlah (Religion and State), Isti'mar wa Kifah (Colonization and Struggle), Khutuwat ala Tariq al-Da'wah (Steps on the Path of Preaching), I'lam al-Ulama' al-A'lam Bibina' al-Masjid al-Haram (Notifying the Eminent Scholars About the Construction of the Grand Mosque), Qadaya Mu'asirah fi Mahkamat al-Fikr al-Islami (Contemporary Issues in the Court of Islamic Thought), Tarikhuna al-Islami Lam Yuqra' Ba'd (Our Islamic History Has Yet to Be Read), and Kitab al-Ummah al-Wahidah (The Book of the United Nation). Despite the Islamic thought-oriented themes of his works, Jamal was also concerned with women's issues and maintained a neutral and balanced perspective in his writings. His works in this field include Nisa' wa Qadaya (Women and Issues), Kara'im al-Nisa' (Honorable Women), Nisa'una wa Nisa'uhum (Our Women and Their Women), and Ta'lim al-Banat (Girls' Education). Jamal was also a short poems composer, though he published only one poetry collection, Diwan al-Tala'i (The Vanguards), in 1947. Most of its poems reflected the realities of the Arab and Islamic world. The collection was later republished in 1977 under the title Wada'an Ayyuha al-Shi'r (Farewell, O Poetry).
Life of Mohammed Saleh Jamal
As for his biography, Mohammed Saleh Jamal was born in Makkah al-Mukarramah in 1925. He received his education through traditional study circles and formal schooling, graduating from the Saudi Scientific Institute in Makkah al-Mukarramh in 1941. After graduation, he held various government positions, including working at the Presidency of the Judiciary. In 1962, he participated in drafting the Basic Law of Governance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Additionally, he served as a member of several ministries and organizations, including the Shura Council, the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, and the Supreme Council of Endowments (later renamed the General Authority for Awqaf). Journalism captivated him from an early age. He began his career at Hira Newspaper and wrote for several other publications. Later, he oversaw al-Tadamun al-Islami Magazine and Da'wat al-Haq series published by the Muslim World League. He was also selected to teach Islamic culture at Umm al-Qura University in Makkah al-Mukarramah and King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah until his passing in 1993.
