



The Cultural Skills Competition is a national initiative launched by the Ministry of Culture in partnership with the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2023. It is the first of its kind and targets students of upper elementary (fourth, fifth, and sixth grades), middle, and high schools, and features six cultural tracks.
Objectives and tracks of the Cultural Skills Competition
The Cultural Skills Competition aims to discover and develop male and female students' skills in cultural and artistic fields, preserve Saudi Arabia's cultural heritage and increase awareness of it, inspire male and female students to explore various cultural and artistic domains and make the optimal investment of their potential.
The competition features six tracks, including Film, which aims to discover, support, and empower innovators in this field, recognizing the importance of advancing the Saudi film industry and promoting it globally, as well as the Literature track.
The competition also includes the Visual Arts track, which aims to produce distinctive visual artworks. This track includes two sub-tracks: Visual Arts, such as painting and sculpture, and digital visual arts, which involves digital tools like photography and design. Additionally, there is a track dedicated to Arabic calligraphy arts.
The Music track identifies and supports talented musicians, including instrumental performance and singing. There is also the Theater track. Finally, the Heritage track provides an opportunity to participate in one of the most significant traditional performing arts, that is, traditional dances.
Awards of the Cultural Skills Competition
The contestants in the Cultural Skills Competition competed for prizes totaling more than SAR5 million. Winners in each track and from each educational stage were awarded prizes, including SAR100,000 for first place, SAR75,000 for second place, and SAR50,000 for third place.
Stages of the Cultural Skills Competition
The competition consisted of seven main stages, beginning with the talent discovery stage, where male and female students from public education across various cultural fields were identified to develop their abilities and refine their skills and knowledge. Participants then advanced to the remote training stage, followed by the competition stage, which took place among creatives from different provinces of Saudi Arabia. Afterward, the talented individuals were honored in all provinces. The competition then moved to the talent development stage, conducted in a specialized training camp, followed by the voting phase. It concluded with the final performances during the closing ceremony.
