The Low Power Research Reactor Project is the first nuclear research reactor in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, dedicated to the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Operating at a capacity of one hundred KW, the project aims to reduce carbon emissions and greenhouse gases.

The project is one of the energy projects under Saudi Vision 2030. It was inaugurated by Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, on November 5, 2018.

The project is overseen by several governmental entities, including: King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE), and Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission (NRRC).
