Saudi coffee is part of the hospitality protocols during official occasions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is served with dates to official guests during welcoming and reception ceremonies and in their seating areas during any event.
The coffee is poured from golden coffee pots into white cups and given to the guest and host simultaneously if more than one person is pouring it. If only one person is serving coffee, it is served to the guest or the event host, then to the person on their right.
Dates are served pitted, with skewers inserted to make them easier to eat. Water, juice, and unsweetened tea should also be provided, along with individually wrapped sugar cubes placed nearby, as these are considered essential elements of hospitality. During receptions, designated personnel welcome guests at the entrance and accompany them to their seats.
