List of the Governors and Military Leaders of the First Saudi State

Several governors and army leaders took part in the battles of the First Saudi State during its establishment. They contributed to instilling security and political stability over its ninety-four years of rule, from 1727 to 1818. These governors and army leaders include:

Suleiman Bin Afaisan

Suleiman Bin Afaisan supported the First Saudi State against its enemies in 1776. He was appointed governor of al-Kharj in 1785. He led several conquests in the eastern Arabian Peninsula. He passed away in 1793.

Ibrahim Bin Suleiman Bin Afaisan

Ibrahim governed the Emirate of al-Kharj upon the death of his father, Suleiman Bin Afaisan. He led several conquests in the eastern Arabian Peninsula. He was appointed governor of al-Ahsa in 1804, before becoming governor of Unaizah, a position he assumed until he died in 1814.

Fahd Bin Suleiman Bin Afaisan

Fahd Bin Suleiman Bin Afaisan was delegated to Bahrain, as the director of Bayt al-Mal (treasury), in 1810. During the reign of Imam Abdullah Bin Saud Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, he became the governor of al-Ahsa. He was killed in ad-Dilam in 1819.

Hujailan Bin Hamad

Hujailan Bin Hamad was appointed governor of Buraydah and its affiliated territories in 1776. He led several conquests in favor of the First Saudi State. He passed away in 1819.

Rabih Bin Zaid al-Dosari

Rabih Bin Zaid al-Dosari was a member of al-Makharim Tribe, in ad-Dawasir. In 1785, he came to Diriyah and pledged his loyalty to its leaders. He defended the Saudi State and contributed to extending its influence, namely in the regions of Aseer.

Othman al-Mudaifi

Othman al-Mudaifi joined the rule of Al Saud in 1802. He was appointed governor of Taif and assumed an instrumental role in annexing Hejaz under Saudi rule. He was captured after continuous battles in which he engaged to defend the lands of the Saudi State. He was sent to Egypt and then to Istanbul where he was killed in 1813.

Mohammed Bin Mu'aykal

Mohammed Bin Mu'aykal began his journey with the First Saudi State in 1791. He led the Saudi armies to al-Jawf in 1794. He also led several armies in defending the state.

Hadi Bin Qarmleh

Hadi Bin Qarmleh was the chief of the Qahtan Tribe. He came to Diriyah and pledged his loyalty to its leaders in 1787. He was assigned to engage in battles against the state's enemies in Aseer. He participated in several battles until his death during the battle of Wadi as-Safra' in 1811.

Abdulwahab Abu Nuqtah

Abdulwahab Abu Nuqtah came to Diriyah with his brother in 1800. He pledged loyalty to its leaders and was appointed governor of Aseer. He assumed a role in annexing Hejaz and Jazan under Saudi Rule. He led several conquests against the enemies of the state and was killed during one of the battles in which he took part in 1809.

Tami Bin Shuaib

Tami Bin Shuaib became governor of Aseer upon the death of Abdulwahab Abu Nuqtah. He contributed to the expansion of the Saudi rule. He took part in several battles. He was sent to Egypt and then to Istanbul where he was killed.

Mutlaq al-Mutairi

Mutlaq al-Mutairi became an active leader in 1809. He led the Saudi armies during the reign of Imam Saud Bin Abdulaziz Bin Mohammed Bin Saud. He was killed in the areas of Oman in 1813.

Ghusab al-Otaibi

Ghusab al-Otaibi initiated his military activity in 1805. He was then sent to Diriyah as a leader for a selected cavalry battle, where he supported Abdulwahab Abu Nuqtah in his battle against the enemies of the Saudi State. He was also among the leaders in southern Taif in 1814. He led the cavalry division of the army of Imam Abdullah Bin Saud Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud during the battle of Diriyah in 1818.

Massoud Bin Mudian

Massoud Bin Mudian was among the war leadership appointed by Imam Saud Bin Abdulaziz Bin Mohammed, upon the death of his brother, Budai Bin Mudian. He assumed an instrumental role during the battle of Wadi as-Safra' in 1811. However, he was sent to Egypt where he was killed.
