Qetn Mountains are a mountain range in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, located west of Qassim Province, specifically northeast of Uqlat as-Suqur Governorate. The highest peaks within the mountain range reach an elevation of 1,179 m above sea level. It is one of the ten mountains in Qassim Province.
Geological nature of Qetn Mountains
Qetn Mountains consist of a series of elevations featuring light-colored igneous rocks surrounded by various desert mesa formations shaped by erosion over time. Numerous densely tree-lined defiles traverse their stony edges. Qetn Mountains and their surrounding areas are popular outdoor destinations for local residents seeking leisure and recreation. Additionally, several villages encircle them.
Tourism in Qetn Mountains
In 2012, the mountain was transformed into an eco-tourism project in a concerted effort to enhance tourism within Qetn Mountains region. This was the first project of its kind in Qassim Province. The site has been divided into distinct areas that provide a range of activities and special events tailored to accommodate all types of visitors. Qetn Mountains are surrounded by several other mountains, interspersed with valleys abundant in trees and several natural attractions.
