Noqush is a cultural heritage event launched by the Heritage Commission, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture. It aims to revive the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's heritage assets and historic landscapes, breathing new life into the historical heritage sites in Riyadh Province. The event commenced on March 4, 2022, and ended on April 2, 2022. It featured visits and guided tours of several villages and historic palaces.

Objectives of the Noqush event

The Noqush event aimed to foster cultural sustainability through family-friendly activities and enable the local community to explore the heritage landmarks in Riyadh Province. This was achieved through guided tours highlighting the history of these sites, supporting efforts to promote local heritage, revive cultural assets, and showcase their significant civilizational value.

Activities of the Noqush event

The Noqush event featured several activities, including introducing Saudi coffee, showcasing traditional social life, hosting cultural heritage talks and tours, offering hands-on experiences in cultural heritage, presenting traditional performances, and visiting artisan shops and heritage cafés. The event also included special programs for children, a Messiyyan session, light shows projected into the facades of heritage buildings, nighttime illuminations, and traditional coffee gatherings.

Tracks of the Noqush event

The Noqush event comprised two tracks:

First path: al-Jubaylah—Sodus

The historic Sodus Village events were held there, featuring activities such as tours of the Artisan Market, which included craft shops, an introduction to Saudi coffee and traditional flavors, the Christopher Hanke exhibition, a Messiyyan session, the Sadus Pomegranate experience, excavation workshops designed for children, reenactments of traditional social life, and activities like the Saudi coffee gathering, café, and nighttime light displays.

Second path: al-Majma'ah—al-Ghat

The events of this path included heritage sites such as the historic al-Askar Palace, which houses a collection of books on the history, architecture, and tangible and intangible heritage of al-Majma'ah. The activities featured an artisan market, an exhibition of authored works, coffee gatherings, al-Shovel Roastery booth, and reenactments of traditional social life. At al-Minikh Mountain Castle, activities included star gazing, live cooking, and light shows projected onto building facades.

In al-Ghat Heritage Village, mud construction techniques were showcased, along with serving Saudi coffee, a tour of al-Hawtah Farm and the artisan market, and traditional heritage performances. At al-Ghat Emirate Palace, events included visits to the coffee meeting rooms, cultural heritage tours of al-Ghat Heritage Village, and heritage workshops for children.
