The Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) is a scientific and professional authority dedicated to the advancement of the engineering sector within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the elevation of the professional and intellectual competence of the national engineering workforce. SCE's bylaws were issued on December 1, 2002, through a resolution by the Council of Ministers on November 18, 2002. SCE's headquarters is situated in Riyadh, the capital, and it operates under the oversight of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing.
SCE supports the comprehensive national development of the engineering sector and its employees by developing the activities of engineering offices and companies, increasing their participation in major engineering projects, setting foundations, standards, classification, and licenses, providing specialized qualitative training programs, stimulating scientific research and innovation to achieve further growth in the engineering field, organizing conferences, forums, and engineering events at the local and international levels, and enhancing international cooperation with engineering organizations to exchange professional experiences and expertise.
SCE memberships
The Engineering Professions Practice Law requires all engineers to register with SCE to obtain membership that enables them to practice the profession. SCE grants membership in the following classifications: engineer, specialist, technician, student, and individuals interested in engineering.
SCE services
SCE provides a package of services to members, including individuals, offices, and engineering companies, most notably the instant accreditation service for engineers, the instant licensing service for engineering offices, the service for price inquiry regarding engineering office and company services, the engineering consultation service targeting citizens planning to build a house, the model contract service that aims to preserve the rights of all parties involved, the electronic training platform, the self-assessment service for engineering offices and companies, the service of auditing qualifications and certificates, and the registration service for engineers seeking to work in the Kingdom before their arrival "Ejtiyaz".
SCE departments
SCE manages its operations and activities both within and beyond the workplace through a number of departments, mainly the General Administration of Supportive Affairs, the General Administration of Services, the Department of Professional Accreditation and Qualification, the Licensing and Classification Department, the Testing and Classification Department, and the Training and Development Department.
SCE professional testing
SCE establishes the rules and standards required for professional degree testing to enhance and cultivate competencies essential for active involvement in comprehensive national development. It has instituted a dedicated department focused on professional testing and classification. Some of the responsibilities of this department include creating professional testing, collaborating with professional testing organizations, appointing inspectors, overseeing the professional testing results system, coordinating workshops to enhance understanding of engineering professions, and raising awareness about the significance of professional testing and their role in elevating the competence of engineers.
