Rabigh Solar PV Power Project is a photovoltaic solar renewable energy project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was launched in 2019 and has a total capacity of three hundred MW. The project is located twenty-five km from
Features of Rabigh solar PV power project
Rabigh solar PV power project, whose park is connected to the national grid, supports the Kingdom's transition to green energy and the optimal utilization of international and national expertise. This is part of the second phase of the Kingdom's renewable energy projects announced in 2019 for photovoltaic solar energy. The consortium led by the Japanese "Marubeni" Corporation and al-Jomaih Energy and Water Company is responsible for developing the project through a twenty-five-year power purchase agreement.
Contributions of Rabigh Solar PV Opwer Park
Rabigh solar PV power project reduces carbon emissions by approximately 508,000 t annually and helps meet the electricity needs of about 52,000 residential units.
Rabigh solar PV power project is implemented through Independent Power Producers (IPP), and the energy produced is purchased under power purchase agreements lasting up to twenty-five years with the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC). The project contributes to shaping the features of the circular carbon economy, which was adopted and supported by the Kingdom during its presidency of the G20 in 2020 to reduce carbon emissions from the energy sector in the Kingdom.
