Aseer Development Authority

The Aseer Development Authority is a Saudi government authority responsible for formulating public policies for the development of Aseer Province in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Its responsibilities include preparing comprehensive strategic studies and plans for the province, as well as overseeing and implementing projects in coordination with the province's council and municipality.

The Aseer Development Authority was established in 2018 to contribute to the development of Aseer Province in economic and urban fields. In the same year, the Council of Ministers issued an order to regulate the existing provincial and urban development authorities, as well as any future authorities, unless their founding documents specify otherwise.

The authority has several responsibilities and mandates, including: preparing comprehensive plans, studies, and strategic plans for the province and its executive programs, adopting and formulating public policies for the development and enhancement of the province, developing programs, principles, and necessary procedures, and incentivizing private sector participation, preparing building regulations and land use, identifying investment attraction opportunities in Aseer Province and supporting them, reviewing development plans prepared by other entities and approving them, prioritizing the implementation of programs and projects in the province in line with development plans, establishing a database to serve as a reference for the province's development, assisting in establishing new companies or forming partnerships with investors, monitoring the implementation of programs and projects in the province, and coordinating and organizing efforts among relevant agencies involved in the development and growth of the province.

According to the organizational arrangements for provincial and city development authorities, the chairman of the authority's board is appointed by order of the Prime Minister, and the province's governor chairs the board. The authority enjoys legal personality and administrative independence, with an independent annual budget prepared and issued in accordance with the arrangements for issuing the state's general budget. Organizationally, it is linked to the Prime Minister.

The Aseer Development Authority manages its operations in its primary headquarters in Abha City. It is governed by a board of directors tasked with managing the authority's affairs and supervising its activities. The board has several powers, including the establishment of companies and participating in their establishment to execute projects specified by the authority, in addition to approving the investment of the authority's funds to achieve its objectives.
