The Jeddah Security and Development Summit is a joint meeting convened by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, in the city of Jeddah on July 16, 2022. The summit was held in Jeddah in conjunction with the first visit of Joseph Biden, the president of the United States, to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The summit was preceded by an official meeting between His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz, crown prince and prime minister, and the US president on July 15, 2022.
The Jeddah Security and Development Summit was attended by the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Iraq, and the United States of America.

The Jeddah Security and Development Summit was headed by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. He inaugurated the summit with a speech in which he welcomed the participating leaders, shed light on the major challenges faced by the world in recent times, and called for exploring ways of joint cooperation to address regional challenges in line with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations seeking the respect of the sovereignty and values of nations, refraining from interference in their internal affairs, respecting their independence, and observing the safety of their territories.
Prince Mohammed Bin Salman also called for the consolidation of international efforts toward the recovery of the global economy, the achievement of food and health security, and the addressing of environmental challenges, namely climate change. He emphasized the importance of investing in fossil energy sources and its clean technologies in the upcoming two decades. He also called for exploring the future of the region and highlighting the importance of achieving security, stability, and prosperity in the region.
Deliverables of the Jeddah Security and Development Summit
The Jeddah Security and Development Summit aimed to reaffirm the historical partnership among the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and explore avenues for joint cooperation in all fields. It also adopted a prospective joint vision for the region to promote peace and prosperity, underscoring all required efforts for maintaining the security and stability of the region, jointly addressing challenges, adhering to the rules of good neighborly relations and mutual respect, and preserving regional sovereignty and safety.
Leaders attending the summit have emphasized the importance of cooperation and working toward achieving just, comprehensive, and enduring peace in various cases and situations in the Middle East. Leaders also commended the Saudi Green and the Middle East Green initiatives adopted by the Kingdom. They reiterated the significance of achieving energy security, ensuring the stability of energy markets, and promoting investments in technologies and projects aimed at reducing emissions and reaching a net-zero status. Leaders reaffirmed their support for the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and called for the promotion of regional and international efforts to combat terrorism. The summit addressed a variety of regional and international issues, with leaders expressing their commitment to convene the summit in the future.
