King Salman International Stadium will host the opening and final matches of the 2034 World Cup. This announcement came after the Federation Internationale de Football Association, FIFA, revealed details of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's bid to host the largest-ever edition of the FIFA World Cup tournaments to be organized in a single country.
The design of King Salman Stadium has been unveiled as one of the world's largest sports stadiums, covering a total area of about 660,000 m², including its sports facilities, with a seating capacity of approximately 92,000 seats. It is expected to be completed during the fourth quarter of 2029.
King Salman Stadium is located north of Riyadh City on King Salman Road next to King Abdulaziz Park. The stadium's main stand features a royal box accommodating 150 seats, 120 hospitality suites, three hundred VIP seats, and two thousand seats for important personalities. The stadium boasts sustainable cooling systems for spectators' seats and the ground. Surrounding the top of the stadium are internally extended screens for fans, along with indoor gardens and a rooftop walking path overlooking King Abdulaziz Park. The master plan of King Salman Stadium includes numerous sports facilities surrounding the main stadium, spanning an area exceeding 360,000 m². Prominent features include two auxiliary training stadiums, fan zones, an indoor sports hall, an Olympic swimming pool, and an athletics track. Additionally, there are outdoor courts for volleyball, basketball, and padel to accommodate various sports activities. These facilities are interconnected by a sports trail stretching nine km around the perimeter of King Abdulaziz Park.
