During the 1994 World Cup, the Saudi national team managed to score five goals, successively scored by Fuad Anwar (two goals) against the Netherlands and Morocco, Sami al-Jaber one goal against Morocco, Saeed al-Owairan one goal against Belgium, and Fahd al-Ghesheyan one goal against Sweden. Fuad Anwar is considered the scorer of the first Saudi goal in the history of the national team's participation in the World Cup.
