The territories of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia include three railway networks: the Northern Network, the Eastern Network, and the Haramain High-Speed Railway. These networks serve areas where about three-quarters of the Kingdom's population is concentrated, and more than half of its economic activity takes place. The main stations in the railway networks provide services for passengers, freight, and mining.
The total length of the railways in the Kingdom is more than five thousand km. The longest railway line connects the phosphate mines in Hazm al-Jalamid in the Northern Borders Province to the manufacturing areas in Ras al-Zour on the Arabian Gulf, passing through provinces like al-Jawf, Hail, Qassim, and the Eastern Province. This line has a length of 1,392 km. The total number of passenger stations is around fifteen stations.
