The National Donations Platform, known as (Donate), is a nonprofit national digital platform. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development launched this platform in 2020, aiming to achieve social solidarity and ensure that community members donate to reliable civil organizations and that donations reach those who deserve them in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The platform also aims to promote the growth of nonprofit sectors, coordinate the disbursement of donations while governing and managing them, and put the diverse donated products together in one place.

Donation opportunities on the Donate Platform

The platform offers a variety of donation opportunities. Users can donate to sponsor orphans, seasonal opportunities, ongoing causes, as well as humanitarian cases. All donation opportunities are classified into three categories known in the Islamic context: Sadaqah, Zakat, and Kaffarah.

Donation sectors on Donate Platform

The National Donate Platform encompasses several donation fields across the Kingdom, such as donating to the Islamic services sector, education and training, healthcare, technology and research, awareness and advocacy, support and housing, community services, and emergency and relief.

Roles of the Donate Platform

The Donate Platform receives donation requests from non-governmental organizations and civil associations. Then the relevant committee reviews the application, presents the donation opportunity, and receives the donations. The next steps are transferring the money to civil organizations and submitting implementation reports. This process ends with notifying the donors of the completion of their donation.

Steps for individuals to donate on the Donate Platform

The donation process starts by selecting a donation opportunity from the National Donation Platform. Then, the individual can complete the donation and proceed with the payment using the electronic payment methods available on the platform. By that, the individual's donation is finalized.

The donor can donate on his own behalf, offer it as a gift, or donate on behalf of another person. The donation opportunity can also be shared with other people.

According to the platform's statistics as of the end of August 2023, the total number of donation transactions on the National Donate Platform reached 6,085,966. There were 340 available program opportunities and 12,794 completed opportunities.

Charitable entities in the Kingdom can request to add a donation opportunity on the platform. They can do this by filling out a form that includes the entity’s name, the license number at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the name of the commissioner who works on the association’s affairs, and his private addresses, in addition to the opportunity sector and the region in which it will be implemented, among other details.
