Is Al-Qatt Al-Asiri a Form of Women's Art?

Historically, yes, as women from Aseer Province in the southwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have mastered this traditional art of engraving and ornamentation. The female artist of al-Qatt al-Asiri is referred to as "al-Qattatah." Through its harmonious designs on designated surfaces, it has created an architectural heritage that symbolizes the women of the region.

Due to the effort, cost, and time required to create an al-Qatt al-Asiri mural, the women's efforts were focused on painting it in the reception hall, as it is considered the most important part of the house in Saudi culture.
