Al-Ha'ir Wetland Reserve is located south of Riyadh City and is home to various resident bird species, as well as others that pass through during migration seasons between the north and south.

The reserve covers an area of forty km² and contains al-Ha'ir Dam, which receives water from Wadi Hanifah, a natural valley with groundwater sources.

The reserve is home to various resident and visiting bird species throughout different year seasons, such as herons, eagles, falcons, vultures, various types of ducks, doves, and many passerines and waterfowl.

Following the ongoing development, al-Ha'ir Wetland Reserve will feature several lakes and continuously flowing water channels, as well as five artificial islands.
