King Abdulaziz Historical Center is located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the historical al-Murabba Neighborhood in the center of Riyadh City. The center was established by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) and spans 440,000 m. It was inaugurated on January 22, 1999, to commemorate the passing of one hundred years since the entry of the founding King Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud into Riyadh.
King Abdulaziz Historical Center aims to be a cultural and civilizational landmark that reflects the history of the Arabian Peninsula and the enduring message of Islam while providing an overview of the Kingdom, its history, and its founding principles.
The design of the King Abdulaziz Historical Center was inspired by the heritage, historical, and cultural urban identity of Riyadh City. It was built under the supervision of the RCRC. The center houses several facilities, including the National Museum, King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah), King Abdulaziz Public Library, and King Abdulaziz Auditorium, in addition to historical structures such as al-Murabba Palace, several old buildings, the old compound wall, as well as public facilities such as King Abdulaziz Mosque.
