According to the report by the General Authority for Statistics in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the occasion of International Youth Day 2020, the youth in the Kingdom, defined as the age group (from fifteen to thirty-four years), represent 36.7 percent of the total Saudi population. This report includes various statistics on Saudi youth covering demographic, social, economic, educational, health, cultural, and recreational aspects.
The majority of young males in the Kingdom fall within the (twenty to twenty-four) age group, representing 27.6 percent. On the other hand, the highest percentage for young females is equally distributed between the (twenty to twenty-four) and (twenty-five to twenty-nine) age groups, each representing 26.2 percent. Children and youth together represent 67 percent of the Saudi population in 2020.
When comparing the years 2007 and 2017, a significant decrease in illiteracy rates among Saudi youth is observed. This decline is particularly notable among females. Most Saudi youth do not face any difficulties during their studies, with a nearly equal percentage of males and females, reaching approximately 68 percent. Additionally, the secondary school transition rate for Saudis was 99.8 percent in 2019.
