The total length of the railway networks in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is 5,330 km, transporting over three million passengers annually, as well as raw materials, mineral resources, and export and import materials to Riyadh Dry Port and other industrial ports.
The Saudi Arabia Railways "SAR" is in charge of managing and operating all railways in the Kingdom. Its responsibilities include managing passenger transport, transporting mineral resources, fuel, and solid and fluid cargo, in addition to attracting local and foreign investments to participate in railway projects.
In total, there are three railway networks in the Kingdom: the North Train Network, the East Train Network, and the Haramain High-Speed Railway. These networks serve areas where about three-quarters of the Kingdom's population is concentrated and more than half of its economic activity takes place. The main stations in the railway networks provide services for passengers, freight, and mining.
