Al-Balad Development Company

Al-Balad Development Company, a product of the Public Investment Fund, was launched on October 3, 2023, to be the primary developer of Jeddah Historic District (al-Balad), a heritage site in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The company aims to provide space for visitors to Jeddah Historic District to explore its cultural heritage by improving its infrastructure quality while preserving its urban identity. It collaborates with relevant entities and the private sector to achieve its goals.

Al-Balad Development Company aims to provide visitors to Jeddah Historic District with an experience of discovering its historical and cultural dimensions. It works to create a conducive environment for living, working, and engaging in recreational and cultural activities to contribute to enhancing the quality of life and improving the visitor experience in the area.

The tasks of al-Balad Development Company include improving the infrastructure of Jeddah Historic District, supervising the restoration of its heritage buildings, and developing facilities within its area, including residential, hotel, commercial, recreational, and office spaces. Additionally, it aims to enhance the efficiency of services provided while preserving its heritage character. The area where the company operates is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Kingdom.

Jeddah Historic District, managed by al-Balad Development Company, spans approximately 2.5 million m², with building areas totaling 3.7 million m². It comprises around 9,300 residential units, up to 1,800 hotel units, and approximately 1.3 million m² of office and commercial spaces.
