Furthermore, the authority contributes to electricity generation through water desalination plants and then transfers the electrical power to the Saudi Electricity Company using specialized technologies.
The Saudi Water Authority is a Saudi government authority. It was established by a Royal Decree on September 7, 1974, as an independent governmental institution with a legal personality under the name of the Saline Water Conversion Corporation. On May 7, 2024, the Council of Ministers approved the transformation of the (Saline Water Conversion Corporation) to an authority named the (Saudi Water Authority).
