Tabaud Application is a government electronic application launched by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health on June 12, 2020. It works alongside other health service applications in the Kingdom to contain COVID-19.
The application relies on Bluetooth technology to detect devices near the user's device and securely store this data for fourteen days only. The aim is to alert users if they have been in contact with infected individuals during this period. Alert messages are sent when a user reports that they have tested positive for the virus.
Objectives of Tabaud Application
SDAIA developed the application based on health standards provided by the Ministry of Health, in accordance with the Saudi Health Law and its executive regulations. The application aims to combat COVID-19 and limit its spread by sending notifications and alerts to users if they have been in contact with an infected person while ensuring complete privacy for users and their data.
Services of Tabaud Application
The application operates on smartphone systems 'Android - iOS' and supports both Arabic and English. It primarily relies on Bluetooth technology and provides its services for free without the need for an internet connection. It measures the proximity of application users to each other through specific algorithms. If one of the users is infected with the virus, the other users receive notifications alerting them that they have been in contact with a confirmed case within the past fourteen days.
After receiving a contact alert, users get notifications on their smartphones containing guidance instructions and basic information. This information once filled out, is sent to the Ministry of Health for necessary actions. The details include: national ID or residency number, mobile number, date of birth, and health form.
