The New Abha International Airport is an international airport in Abha City. Its construction will feature an architectural identity that aligns with the heritage of the Aseer Province, making it a distinctive landmark in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, announced its master plan on October 12, 2023, as part of the National Center for Privatization projects. The first phase is set for completion in 2028.

The area and facilities of the new Abha International Airport

The new Abha International Airport terminal will cover an area of 65,000 m, compared to the current airport's 10,500 m. The new airport will include boarding bridges, new platforms, self-service facilities to streamline travel procedures, and parking spaces.

The airport will have an annual capacity exceeding thirteen million passengers, a tenfold increase compared to the current 1.5 million passengers. It will operate over ninety thousand flights annually, up from the current thirty thousand flights. The number of gates in the new airport will increase to twenty, with forty-one check-in counters and seven new self-service booths.

This will ensure a distinctive travel experience with high efficiency, offering smooth services for visitors and travelers.

The new Abha International Airport strengthens Aseer Province's leadership as a global destination and achieves national strategies aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, including the Aseer "Qimam and Shem" strategy and the national aviation strategy, aiming to expand to 250 destinations, accommodate 330 million travelers, and fulfill the objectives of the national tourism strategy.
