Adhwan Mohammed al-Ahmari is the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Journalists Association, editor-in-chief of Independent Arabia, and the presenter of 'al-Madar talk show'. He began his journalistic career in the Saudi newspaper al-Watan, then worked in al-Hayat and Asharq al-Awsat newspapers.
Academic qualifications
He joined King Saud University in Riyadh and obtained a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 2007. He completed his postgraduate studies at New York University in the United States of America and obtained a master’s degree in 'Digital Media' in 2021.
Adhwan al-Ahmari obtained a diploma in editorial and news ethics from the British Council, in addition to many training courses in various fields, including courses in the English language and business administration from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, English language courses from Georgetown University, and courses at the ELS Language Center.
His career
He worked in al-Watan newspaper as a reporter, editor, columnist, and reports maker on political, social, and religious issues from 2003 to 2012. He served as editor-in-chief of 'The Week in an Hour' program at Rotana Media Group from 2012 to 2013. He worked as a journalist in al-Hayat newspaper from 2012 to 2013, then became head of the digital and online services department in Asharq al-Awsat newspaper from 2013 to 2018. Moreover, he has been the editor-in-chief of Independent Arabia since 2019, and the presenter of 'al-Madar talk show' on El Sharq TV since 2020. He was elected chairman of the Saudi Journalists Association in 2024.
Awards
He won the Saudi Media Forum award in the political journalism category from the Ministry of Media in 2019.
