The Digital Government Award is aimed at supporting digital government innovation to enhance an integrated digital society that provides innovative digital services improving quality of life in line with the targets of Saudi Vision 2030. It incentivizes government entities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to achieve the highest local and international standards during the digital transformation journey. It was issued and organized by the Digital Government Authority, comprising four main categories classified into institutional and individual categories.
Objectives
The Digital Government Award aims to highlight excellence in government performance, document the best digital solutions to enable and accelerate sustainable digital transformation, propose innovative digital solutions to contribute to the creation of developmental and creative opportunities in the government sector, adopt the highest local and international standards during the digital transformation journey, and enhance the efficiency of government work.
Organizing the Digital Government Award
The Digital Government Authority is the organizer of the Digital Government Award, but it does not participate in the judging process. This is to ensure neutrality and transparency in the evaluation. The authority's role is limited to organizing, supervising, and coordinating among participants and judges.
The award judging panel is comprised of a selection of independent experts and specialists separate from the Digital Government Authority. Members of the judging panel are chosen based on their expertise and contributions to various local and international awards in the field. The judging team operates through an independent workshop to evaluate the nominations submitted for the award within a specified timeframe.
The targeted categories for the Digital Government Award
The Digital Government Award works towards enabling the development of digital government services in the Kingdom by fostering competition in digital innovation and creativity. It targets all government entities in the Kingdom, allowing them to participate and submit digital services and projects for competition in the institutional categories of the award. Additionally, government entities can participate in the individual categories of the award by nominating their distinguished employees in the field of digital transformation to compete.
The institutional categories include the Best Digital Government Service category, designated for outstanding government entities in providing digital services. Participation entails offering an integrated service that considers the concept of beneficiary centrality and provides an effective user experience. Another category is the Best Use of Emerging Technologies, designated for distinguished government entities that adopt emerging technologies to enhance the efficiency of operational procedures in government performance. These technologies include artificial intelligence, virtual reality, robotics, cloud computing, blockchain, Internet of Things, simulation, big data, cybersecurity, and other modern and effective technologies that enable government entities to make significant progress in the efficiency and speed of their operations and outputs.
The individual categories include the Best Digital Leader award, given to the top government employee in a leadership position who has demonstrated a clear impact in supporting digital transformation, extending their influence to colleagues and subordinates. Additionally, the Best Promising Employee award is granted to the most active employee in the field of innovation and digital transformation, showing clear efforts to support the process of digital transformation within the system.
