The SCANIT Initiative was launched by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in collaboration with Intel Corporation in February 2023 during the Global Tech Conference (LEAP23). The initiative aims to improve the security of tech devices entering the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, enhance local capabilities in inspecting modern systems, and ensure the integrity of imported products and supply chains.
SCANIT Initiative objectives
The initiative aims to inspect devices and protect them from tampering, hacking programs, and specification changes during their transport from the factory to the Kingdom through the supply chain technology for desktop and laptop computers.
Outputs of the SCANIT Initiative
The initiative, in collaboration between KACST and Intel, provides training on inspecting desktop and laptop computers and verifying changes from their factory condition. Sample tests, supplied by the company, are conducted by the inspection team at KACST using the Supply Chain Transparency Platform to ensure the integrity of the devices.
This initiative extends the collaboration between KACST and Intel in the fields of computing, raising awareness about artificial intelligence among the Saudi community, data solutions, product reliability, and digital elements.
