The "From Earth" Exhibit is a Saudi art exhibition organized by the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture "Ithra" in collaboration with the Society for Culture and Arts in Dammam. In this exhibit, thirty-two Saudi artists showcased their artistic experiences and relationship with their land. The idea of the exhibit is to simulate the Saudi people's experience with their land. It was held at the Ithra Center in Dhahran City, in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The exhibit began in February 2023 and continued until September 26, 2023.

"From Earth" exhibit objectives

The exhibit aims to support emerging Saudi talents, provide a platform to showcase and produce local artistic content, and reinforce the message of art in the Kingdom. It seeks to build bridges between emerging and professional artists, establish a network of relationships among artists, and facilitate partnerships that contribute to the development of the art sector. Additionally, the exhibit aspires to be a reflective mirror of culture and art, reinterpreting history and expressing a sense of belonging to the land through aesthetic artistic expression. It aims to transform this sense of belonging into a creative vision, helping contemporaries understand that "the first foundation of the land is steadfast love". The other goals of the exhibit include promoting community participation, introducing and supporting new emerging artists, discovering a new generation of artists, and highlighting the Kingdom's heritage and culture.

"From Earth" exhibit works

The "From Earth" exhibit commenced on February 8, 2023, and continued until September 26, 2023, spanning a six-month artistic journey. During this period, thirty-two Saudi artists showcased their works across seven artistic paths: (Multimedia, fine art paintings, installations, sculptures, serial works, photography, and Arabic calligraphy). The exhibit included various programs such as discussions, workshops, and lectures. In addition to the contributions from Saudi artists, a group of guest artists was invited to participate by showing their artworks. Before the invitation, the works of the guest artists were reviewed by a specialized jury, which evaluated them according to specific criteria that aligned with the exhibit's theme in a distinctive and contemporary manner.

Colors of art in the "From Earth" exhibit

The "From Earth" exhibit included various art forms such as sound art, installations, and acrylic fine art paintings. Visitors were allowed to experiment and form their own perspectives on nature and its impact on people. The diverse pieces in the exhibit allowed visitors to reflect on the natural landscapes in the Kingdom and understand the diversity of the environments of these places. They also offered insight into what these places represent to the specialized artists.

The exhibit demonstrated the artist's ability to embody their love for the land through their artwork, capturing the artist's emotions and perspectives. This inspired both the participating and non-participating artistic talents towards further creativity. The exhibit also reflected the connection between natural heritage and artistic expression in the Kingdom.
