The numerous mines of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia boast a wealth of basic minerals, which has made mining operations widespread across its lands. Among its most important mines are:
Ad-Duwayhi mine
It is the largest gold mine in production, located in Makkah al-Mukarramah Province. Production of the new mine commenced in 2016. It includes a Carbon-In-Leach processing facility.
Mahd Ad-Dhahab Mine
It is a historic gold mine dating back about three thousand years and located in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah Province. Production commenced in 1988.
Al-Amar mine
It is an open-pit mine, making it the first of its kind in Riyadh Province. It produces high-quality gold ore rich in minerals. It began the production process simultaneously with that of the Carbon-In-Leach processing facility in 2009.
Bulghah mine
An open-pit mine that produces low-concentration raw materials. Located in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah Province, it was operated in 2002.
Sukhaybarat mine
An open-pit mine with a Carbon-In-Leach processing facility. It is located in Qassim Province, from which gold is produced and sold as gold bullion.
As-Suq mine
It is located in Makkah al-Mukarramah Province. Production commenced in 2014, and its produced gold is sold as gold bullion.
Az-Zabirah mine
A low-concentration bauxite mine, which also produces kaolin clay. It is located between Qassim and Hail Provinces.
Wadi as-Sawawin mine
One of the largest iron mines, located northeast of Duba Governorate in Tabuk Province.
Al-Hajar mine
It is located south of the Kingdom in Wadi Shawas, sixty km west of Bishah. It produces gold ore and silver.
Jabal Sayid mine
A large underground copper mine developed by Ma’aden Barrick Copper Company. It is located 120 km southeast of al-Madinah al-Munawwarah. The mine was operated in mid-2016.
