The statue of Hercules in al-Faw derives its fame from being the only artifact in the world that depicts the image of Hercules, or Heracles, the Emperor of the Byzantine Empire, after his youth. The statue is located in the village of al-Faw, which is approximately seven hundred km away from Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It gained international fame in circles specializing in antiquities, archaeologists wrote about it in their research, and several studies and scientific journals covered it.
The statue is regarded as a one-of-a-kind historical work of art. It shows Hercules, who is about forty years old, with a club in his right hand and a lion's skin in his left. It is a bronze statue from the period between the third century BCE and the third century CE.
