The Twin Fortresses are located in al-Malad village, south of al-Bahah city in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, along the road leading to Baljurashi governorate. They are known by several names, including the "Brothers Fortresses" and "al-Malad Fortresses." These two fortresses are positioned adjacent to each other atop a hill, surrounded by old houses. They tower about a hundred meters above al-Malad Valley, with a mere 120 cm gap separating them. They are completely identical in terms of shape, dimensions, height, and interior design.
These fortresses are distinguished by their resilience and steadfastness in the face of changing climatic conditions. They serve as historical witnesses to generations spanning four centuries. The fortresses were constructed by two brothers long ago for military surveillance purposes and later became food storage facilities. Alongside these towers stands a building where tribal peace agreements were negotiated and ancient commercial deals were made, especially since they are situated along the ancient trade route that leads to Aseer in the south.
