The Eastern Province Amana is one of seventeen amanas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Its headquarters is located in Dammam, and it is responsible for the urban development of the Eastern Province and coordinating with governmental entities to prepare structural plans for cities, provinces, and centers in the province. Its responsibilities also include providing municipal services.
On August 21, 2005, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing (known as the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs at that time) issued resolutions that included naming the province's amanas, linking municipalities and rural communities, and abolishing the General Directorates of Municipal and Rural Affairs. These decisions were made per the Municipalities and Villages Law issued on October 25, 1976, and the Council of Ministers' decision on June 23, 2004. The name of the Eastern Province Municipality was changed to "Amana" (Eastern Region Province), and the municipalities and rural communities in the region were linked to the Secretary (Ameen) of the region.
