The Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Award for Cultural Cooperation between the Kingdom and China is an annual cultural award aimed at supporting cultural and civilizational rapprochement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the People's Republic of China, introducing the Kingdom and its culture and achievements in Chinese cultural circles. The award honors outstanding Saudi and Chinese academics, linguists, and innovators. The Ministry of Culture launched it on February 21, 2019. The award is granted for creative works in various fields, organized by the King Abdulaziz Public Library at Beijing University.

Organizing the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Award for Cultural Cooperation between the Kingdom and China

At the organizational level, the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Award for Cultural Cooperation between the Kingdom and China is affiliated with the Ministry of Culture in the Kingdom. It is overseen by the King Abdulaziz Public Library and has a board of trustees chaired by the Minister of Culture. Its executive management is handled through a general secretariat.

Objectives

The Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Award for Cultural Cooperation between the Kingdom and China aims to promote cultural and scientific relations, enhance Arabic arts and literature, and promote them in China. It supports mutual understanding and cultural exchange between Arab and Chinese cultures, and contributes to achieving the common goals of "Saudi Vision 2030" and the Chinese "Belt and Road" Initiative.

Categories

The Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Award for Cultural Cooperation between the Kingdom and China is organized by the King Abdulaziz Public Library at Beijing University. The award in each branch consists of: a certificate of appreciation outlining the reasons for winning the award, a prize of SAR375,000, and a commemorative medal. The award consists of four main categories, namely: The best invention or scientific research presented at universities and colleges of technical sciences in China in Arabic language, best artistic and creative work in photography, drawing, and design, best book translated from Arabic to Chinese, and personality of the year from both countries who have made efforts in serving culture and knowledge.
