It aims to enhance the social, economic, and health conditions of the inmates' families and conducts studies to help rehabilitate the groups under its care.

The committee was established by a decision of the Council of Ministers in 2001. It provides its services across various cities and governorates in the Kingdom. The committee has a board of directors chaired by the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, and includes several members.

The Tarahum Committee consists of three main paths: basic care, family care, and capacity development in terms of empowerment and self-sufficiency. Additionally, it focuses on enabling the children of beneficiary families to study in universities, providing employment and training programs, supporting entrepreneurship programs, assisting released individuals with employment, and integrating them into society through visits to Tarahum branches in various regions of the Kingdom, where they can benefit from the services offered.

Through its website, the committee offers several services, including receiving donations to support the families of prisoners and their families via transfers through local banks, offering gift-giving services to encourage a culture of donation by sending gift cards with project details and information about the giver and recipient, and a Zakat calculator that calculates Zakat based on various categories such as money, assets, property, gold, and real estate, and facilitates the payment of Zakat after selecting the desired type and category of donation.

The committee receives donations for various purposes to support the families of prisoners, including sponsoring the prisoner's family, paying rent, providing food supplies, covering monthly bills, providing Eid clothing, paying off debts, securing suitable housing, and offering all kinds of financial and moral assistance to the families of prisoners. Additionally, the committee helps provide suitable jobs for prisoners after their release.
