The highest oil production in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reached thirteen million barrels per day during the first quarter of 2022, marking the highest level in its production history since it began commercial oil production and export in 1939.
Oil production in the Kingdom includes crude oil and condensates, natural gas liquids, natural gas, and non-associated gas. The Kingdom ranks second globally in oil reserves, which exceeded 337 billion barrels of oil equivalent by the end of 2021.
The Kingdom began producing oil, meeting demand for its oil products, and exporting them in 1939. By 1949, Saudi oil production reached five hundred thousand barrels per day. Despite being among the highest oil-producing countries globally, it achieved the lowest levels of carbon emission intensity in the exploration and production sector of the energy industry in 2021.
