The Saudi Fencing Federation is the sports federation governing fencing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It oversees national teams and clubs, and manages tournaments at the local and international levels. It is headquartered in the capital, Riyadh.
Fencing made its unofficial debut in the Kingdom at the Seb'a Qusur schools in Jeddah before the year 1974. Subsequently, the first team was formed by a group of students at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, consisting of twenty players. Saudi Fencing Federation was officially founded in 1975. It is a member of the Fencing Confederation of Asia and the International Fencing Federation.
Saudi Fencing Federation tasks
The Saudi Fencing Federation is responsible for several tasks, such as managing and representing fencing in regional and international competitions, raising the technical level of athletes in order to compete internationally, and promoting and developing fencing in the community.
The Saudi Fencing Federation oversees several tournaments, including the Kingdom Fencing Championship (SFC). It hosts the World Fencing Championships for juniors and youth. The number of registered players in the federation is 2,323, including both male and female players, and the number of affiliated clubs is forty-eight.
